
The M.I.E.T. Polytechnic College was established by the Mohamed Institute of Education and Technology Society, Tiruchirappalli in the year 1984, a Society registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, at the initiative of Alhaj. A. Mohamed Yunus, an industrialist-cum-educationist as Founder Secretary and Alhaj.S.M.Hassan Mohamed, a Philanthropist as Founder President, with an objective to promote the cause of higher education. Permission to start the College was accorded by the Government of Tamil Nadu. All the Courses run by the College are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, (AICTE), New Delhi / Directorate of Technical Education, (DTE), Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. It is recognized as a Muslim Minority Institution under the constitution of India.
In a short span of time, the College has registered a good record of academic performance. It constantly strives to reach better standards of teaching for effective student learning. It carries out several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for developing life-skills in students and offers useful placement services. The College has well-laid hostels inside the campus for male students and in the town for female students.
